Serving the Perspectives Movement

Perspectives USA exists to awaken the Church to pursue God’s global purpose among all peoples for His glory. The Perspectives Course is a 15-lesson program designed to help believers understand, embrace, and live strategically for God’s mission. With nearly 2,000 annual volunteers and a dedicated staff, Perspectives USA offers classes in multiple formats—online, live virtual, and in-person—across diverse locations, demographics, and languages. Regional Directors in 22 regions recruit and equip local leaders who facilitate classes, promote enrollment, and sustain mission momentum through mobilization. Having reached over 200,000 students through more than 5,000 classes over the past 50 years, Perspectives USA continues to expand its impact by engaging alumni, partnering with churches and mission agencies, and collaborating with other global Perspectives programs to mobilize believers worldwide. Perspectives is widely recognized as a powerful and effective force in equipping believers to step into their unique role in God’s global story.

Since 2012, James has served as the CEO of Perspectives USA. Leading and working with a dedicated team, he has focused on strengthening the organization for long-term impact by recruiting new staff, expanding local mobilizer networks, forming strategic partnerships, raising funds, implementing alumni follow-up initiatives, and upgrading the ministry’s technology and operational capabilities. With a strategic mind and a heart for mobilization, James guides the organization in expanding its impact—ensuring that every decision, initiative, and resource aligns with the mission of awakening God’s people to His purposes. More than administration, his role is about stewarding a movement and inspiring transformation in lives and communities worldwide.  James and Kelly also enjoy volunteering with local Perspectives teams, and James regularly teaches in the biblical and historical sections of the Perspectives course in different locations around the US.

Background and Family

James and Kelly both began their ministry journeys in the early 1980s with youth and college campus ministry. After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Education and an M.Div. from seminary, James served as a pastor for 12 years in Colorado, Kansas, and Nevada, in both large and small congregations. Taking the Perspectives Course in the early 2000s profoundly reshaped his understanding of God’s mission, igniting a passion to see His glory established among all peoples. As a pastor, he supported Bible translation and church-planting efforts among an unreached people group in West Central Africa. In 2007, James and Kelly, who was also deeply impacted by Perspectives, joined Frontier Ventures (then the U.S. Center for World Mission) to engage in mission mobilization. James served as the Director of Recruiting for five years. He also focused on mobilizing churches and college students while representing FV ministries at mission conferences, churches, and denominational leadership gatherings. Beyond being a crucial partner and support to James in his leadership, Kelly homeschooled their three children and has served the mission community in many ways, including teaching, hosting, and mentoring. She is passionate about her walk with Jesus and helps others pursue spiritual, physical, and mental wholeness.

James and Kelly now live in Albuquerque, NM, where they can care for and spend time with their parents and siblings. Their daughter Katy and son Zachary, along with his wife Grace, also live in Albuquerque, while their oldest son, William, resides in Pasadena, CA.
