B is for BREAKTHROUGH

Breakthrough is that holy moment when a stream of light pierces into the darkness of the frontiers, making way for the floodgates of faith, hope and love to be opened wide.

Have you ever prayed for breakthrough? What were you looking for when you asked the Lord of Heaven for breakthrough? I'm convinced that we so often miss the opportunity to rejoice over the answers of our prayers and respond in faith because we are looking for the wrong thing.

"Breakthrough is that holy moment when a stream of light pierces into the darkness of the frontiers, making way for the floodgates of faith, hope and love to be opened wide."

Do you see it?

Jesus longs for people from every tribe, tongue and nation to be united under the rule and reign of his kingdom. And yet there are still many for whom a spiritual darkness looms. We long for missiological breakthroughs to occur among the unreached peoples, through which many souls would be ushered into our holy family. But where do these breakthroughs actually begin?

Breakthrough begins at that moment when the Holy Spirit shifts one heart toward him, bringing about the first fruits of transformation. It is the moment His pickaxe makes the slightest chink in the rubble and light begins streaming into the darkness. It is through this small opening that the breath of life enters in and hope is revived. And it is the moment He begins to fulfill his promises and invites us to rush in and be a part of the completion of His work.

This is breakthrough.

It reminds me of Elijah hiding out in the cave. Where did he find God? Was it in the rushing wind? No. Was it in the earthquake? No. Was it in the fire? No. It was in the whisper--a low POWERFUL whisper that quickens the hearts of men and women.

Have you seen it?

Keep looking. Keep listening. The Lord has answered your prayers of faith for breakthrough. But you must be looking--not for physical evidence, but a spiritual shift. And when you find it: go. "Go, return on your way to the wilderness" (I Kings 19:15). Obey Him. Worship him. Receive his authority and go reap the harvest of breakthrough.
